My grand-kitty, Shiva. I've recently learned the "M" on her forehead makes her a Butterfly Tabby. Had never heard that term.
She's the queen of the castle, though she does share it with a Blue Heeler dog named Zora. They sometimes spat and I think she even teases Zora at times.
Her throne is in my son's office, with great warm sunshine all day long. Since she is shedding, she is kept out of the bedrooms. But actually Zora is shedding more than she does. And Zora shouldn't shed in the fall, silly dog!
I wanted to feel like I could do something for my son and daughter-in-law, and we joked that I moved out west just for them to have a cat-sitter so they could go camping over weekends.
But by the time I arrived, Ms. Shiva had recovered from whatever she had to have pills for, which required both Tai and Kendra administering them. So they kept saying, you don't really need to be our cat-sitter. Ha! Little did they know what a great time I had camping out in their home for 2 nights and making sure Shiva went out and in the back door when she wanted.
One morning she had not gotten off her pillow at 10 am. I talked to her about it, but she just lay there and closed her eyes again. At 11 I picked her up and gently put her on the floor...reminding her that she had cat things to do. She jumped up and had that quick drink of water that I caught in the shot above. Later I saw her nibble a bit of her dry food. Both those bowls are above the reach of Zora!
And as I wrote this on Thursday this week, Shiva had another trip to the vet, is it a UTI or what? They don't know yet.
Sharing with Saturday's Critters #666!

Blog update: I received this email...first ever correspondence from Blogger
Hi Barbara Rogers,
We are performing some routine maintenance to our service and as a result will need to remove a small percentage of videos on the platform. We have identified that 24 videos you own will be deleted as a result. These videos usually appear in blogs as non-playable still image screenshots.
----------
What you need to do: We encourage you to visit Google Takeout and download an archive of your Blogger data to save a copy. You must do so within the next 30 days before it is deleted permanently from Blogger.
To download your videos via Takeout,
- Go to Google Takeout.
- Sign in with your Google Account used for Blogger.
- Ensure "Blogger" is selected.
- Scroll to the bottom and click "Next step".
- Choose "Send download link via email".
- Click "Create export".
- When you receive the email, follow the link to "Manage Google Takeout request", and download and save the ZIP file. Your videos should be in the Blogger/Albums folder.
If you want to keep playing these videos on your blog, please re-add them following Add images & videos to your blog.
Best,

I had no idea I had these old videos...I've been blogging about 20 years, and had maybe 7-9 blogs.
Has anyone else received this kind of communication?

I received the same email. I don’t care about the video, so I’m ignoring it.
ReplyDeleteI hope the kitty is better soon.
"Your account, your data.
DeleteExport a copy of content in your Google Account to back it up or use it with a service outside of Google."
That sounded like more than just the videos...especially when it said it might take hours or days to "take it out."
I had that message, too. I can't be bothered!
DeleteLove the tabby!
Yes, I got that same email from Blogger. I'm ignoring it. My archives are full of dead links already and a few more won't matter. And, just to rant for a minute, Blogger can send me an email about this but not a word of explanation or warning about all the blog feed issues of the past few weeks? Wankers.
ReplyDeleteShiva is adorable! Don't ALL tabbies have that "M" on their foreheads? I thought it was a characteristic of the breed.
I'm hoping that just the videos are going to disappear. Me too I always heard the M was a definition of a tabby. Just like all three colored cats are females.
Deletea Butterfly Tabby, i had never heard this term either.
ReplyDeleteI think it's cute, especially since Shiva has a double M anyway.
DeleteSounds as if blogger has been doing fall cleaning, hence the feed, comment, etc issues. But they're blaming your videos?
ReplyDeleteRather droll, eh?
DeleteYou may have been sitting Shiva, but you weren't in mourning. :)
ReplyDelete"Sitting shiva is a traditional seven-day mourning period observed in Judaism by close relatives after the burial of a loved one."
Our Shiva is more related to Hindu gods and goddesses. And if anyone is sitting on anyone, she sits on the lap of those who adore her.
DeleteI've always just called cats with an "M" on their foreheads M Cats.
ReplyDeleteMaurice is one. I generally give them names that start with an M.
They sure are an army of "M's" aren't they, both gold or grey!
DeleteHappy Caturday! Shiva is a sweetie! I am sure she is fun to cat-sit.
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a happy weekend.
Thanks...I forgot to add this earlier to your meme...off I go to catch up!
DeleteI've not had any email from Blogger, but this new blog of yours + another new blog that I recently added to my "Places to visit" list in the sidebar of my own are now being updated for me (i.e. showing the latest posts added) - while older ones still seem to be "stuck"...
ReplyDeleteThat's good to hear. If I ever have time, I'll try adding a new blog gadget on the sidebar of the Durango blog. Not now though.
DeleteHello Barb,
ReplyDeleteShiva is a cute kitty, I am sure she was fun to sit with for a weekend. The photos are adorable.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great day and a happy weekend! PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
I adore kitties in person...and imagining their soft warm presence when just seeing photos.
DeleteSuch a beautiful (and thoroughly typical in behavior) cat. Who knows what Blogger is up to--I haven't heard from them yet.
ReplyDeleteAh, perhaps you've not complained as much as this person~!
DeleteMy calico tabby has the "M". I always thought it just meant they were a tabby. Shiva is beautiful!
