MY SENIOR ADVENTURES IN DURANGO, COLORADO!

From my desk

Pretty sure these are crows just floating above some place that makes a great thermal...this is the biggest murder of crows I've seen doing this. Note, the Animas River runs from the right to left just on the other side of the first set of deciduous trees. Just before those riverside trees is Hwy 550, running north to Ouray after Silverton, and eventually to Grand Junction CO where it hits Interstate 70. There are lots of mountains in southwest Colorado, and few (paved) roads!

Dawn sun hits the cliffs above the Animas River Valley (and Durango) on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7 am (looking northwest).

My one plant in the apartment at this point...plus the cuttings which are rooting in water still. The mum had lots of buds which probably wouldn't open, but some nice new leaves gives me hope the plant will at least continue to live! Not sure it gets enough sunlight (6 hours is recommended!)

Here's how it looked when I bought it.

Now after cutting off all the buds that wouldn't open. Wonder what it will look like in another month!

How Thursday looked from my desk. The rolled towel on the windowsill is just to block the bright sun when the blinds are closed on sunny afternoons. I've found a way to prop a few slats open for the mum, unless I'm watching TV. But I'm more interested in blogging and emailing over on the desk...so my coping strategy for the health of the plant and my own eyesight seems to work for now.

Friday morning the 18th brought great fog rising from the low spots in the mountains.

And you can see a bit more color in the trees close by.

And on Sept. 23...
