Soup Group and Santa Rita Park

Soup group.

I enjoyed getting to know a few more people this last week at a soup/salad and bread meetup...just for the fun of conversations.

I brought the bread and margarine!

The day before, Monday Oct. 19,  I went for a drive, since it was a pretty day.

The Animas River is tucked between a high mound of earth (probably has a name) and US 550 as it runs through Durango...as they both run through Durango. There's a tiny park there, Santa Rita. It has been featured before talking about the train engine and it's history here.

The bike/hiking path continues for several miles through Durango along the river.

That day I wanted more river and fall color photos. I've easily learned that maples with their great red colors in the fall have been imported. There just aren't any out in the woods where nature spreads the appropriate flora for the terrain.

US 550 going north from Santa Rita Park towards old town of Durango. There are many newer shops in small shopping centers or big box stores out along the highway in the south part, but the old town is where I like to live and shop if possible.

There's the raft take out on the Animas River.
