Signs

Glad that I saw this sign, when I found the ballot box in order to cast my vote on Monday.

I also was pleased to see this outfit. It's located behind the FedEx building. Didn't look very busy that day.

View from my car window where I parked at FedEx to eat my lunch.

I decided to use UPS instead to send off my application to Texas for my birth certificate. I finally got it filled out by a volunteer at church on Sunday (my shaky hands from Essential Tremor make filling in forms pretty hard)...and went to my bank to get it notarized. The cost was for "expedited" overnight delivery and handling by the Texas Dept of Vital Statistics...don't ask how Texan the cost was!

I need that certified birth certificate to get a Colorado driver's license. Next I need to register the car here too. I did already change my insurance coverage! For the last three months, I spend a few hours a day on line or on the phone wrangling different details of institutions dealing with the changes from living in North Carolina to Colorado! And it's not over yet!

But I'm tired of avoiding going out in the rain in my walking shoes or sneakers which all are great absorbent sponges. So Brown's Shoe Store was my goal as well as other sites on Monday.

I brought home a pair of leather booties (boots just over the ankle.) Will wear them around the house and try to keep them clean while deciding if they will provide what I need, or take them back and keep looking.

(PS, ouch. They were rubbing on the backs of my ankles something awful...they're going back !)

  1. Finding a comfortable pair of shoes is a chore for me.

    1. I just hate shopping completely. If I can find something that fits my needs, I don't look further...usually. Shoes are difficult definitely!

  2. Good luck shopping for shoes. I find most of them bother my feet!

    1. Having old comfortable ones means asking my feet to deal with a certain amount of discomfort again. Ugh!

  3. So you are still into form over fashion with footwear? 🤓
You should take me shoe-shopping with you.

    1. And I'd end up with orange and red sneakers! Thanks a lot!

  4. My parents moved a couple of months ago - not far from their previous address, so still the same doctors surgery, same constituency, same county even the same street, and to be honest not that different address apart from the street number and a slight change in the post code..... we are still trying to get all the relevant authorities to sort themselves out - car insurance/council payments/hospital appointments/ banking details/ internet - it just goes on and on....!

    1. I'm surprised how hard it has been for this move. Is it that I have more details to work out? I don't think so, I've moved from FL, TN, SC and GA before. I think for me it's lots of AI challenges on phone calls.

  5. Seems to be a lot involved in moving from one state to another in the US!! :o

    1. The effort has been extraordinary this time. I last moved from a state in 2007 after retirement and the worst thing was convincing the new state that they couldn't get income tax from my earnings from the other state.

  6. I had a hard time getting waterproof shoes. My boots are finally getting friendly, but I too was tired of all my shoes letting in water. Even the so-called water resistant weren't very.

  7. I am amazed at your persistence.

    1. I've been working on necessary details, which as a single woman I must rely upon myself to do...for move. If you mean the shoes, I'm not a good shopper, and would just like to try on a pair and go home with them...this pair didn't make the cut however.
