And now the many green trees I see outside my window are turning yellow.
Durango is in the midst of a rain time. My son who has lived in the area for 10 years or so says this unusual rain is welcome because of the drought that has plagued the area for many years. There are estimates of 6 feet of snowfall in higher elevations over I don't know how long. Durango is forecast to get 3 inches of rain this week. My son says I must have brought the rain with me from North Carolina.
You're welcome.

PS: The Animas River flows into the San Juan, which then goes into Lake Powel, which is sorely depleted. From it comes the Colorado River, which used to flow as far as the Gulf of California (beside Baja California.) At least that's how I remember checking for it. The Colorado River feeds the thirst of Los Angeles now...and perhaps some farms. But I read somewhere it doesn't reach the ocean any more. Drought in the southwest of the USA.

Albert Einstein's life advice in a letter to his son Eduard on 5 February 1930.
Hope the rain does some good even if not much fun while going on. We're having rainy weather here too at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It's interesting to learn of how climate change is affecting our weather patterns...an open book.
DeleteHello, Barb,
ReplyDeleteWe could use more rain here. I love all the scenes and photos of Colorado.
The trees are gorgeous. Take care, have a happy Thursday!
Some good photography, and I try to catch the names as well.
DeleteMy autumn photos pale against your grand landscapes. I am sure that you are still asleep, but I wish you a good day.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, yes indeed. I was up at 6-ish Mountain Time, and it's wet and dark still then!
DeleteThe yellow is the leaves is so brilliant! Fall is such a pretty time of year.
ReplyDeleteMy impression is that the yellow leaves (Aspens for one) appealed to the early prospectors looking for gold. At least autumn offered some.
DeleteThe beauty of Colorado rivals that of North Carolina.
ReplyDeleteI agree...but quite different too!
DeleteWhat a glorious time of the year!
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite season, I think.
