Dawn sun hits the cliffs above the Animas River Valley (and Durango) on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7 am (looking northwest).
My one plant in the apartment at this point...plus the cuttings which are rooting in water still. The mum had lots of buds which probably wouldn't open, but some nice new leaves gives me hope the plant will at least continue to live! Not sure it gets enough sunlight (6 hours is recommended!)
Here's how it looked when I bought it.
Now after cutting off all the buds that wouldn't open. Wonder what it will look like in another month!
How Thursday looked from my desk. The rolled towel on the windowsill is just to block the bright sun when the blinds are closed on sunny afternoons. I've found a way to prop a few slats open for the mum, unless I'm watching TV. But I'm more interested in blogging and emailing over on the desk...so my coping strategy for the health of the plant and my own eyesight seems to work for now.
Pottery at the Durango Autumn Arts Festival:

ReplyDeleteI'm just dipping my toes into the water so far...
DeleteThe scenery out your window is beautiful, but the picture of sunrise on the mountains is stunning!
ReplyDeleteSome mornings are incredible. It does give me something to get me out of bed!
DeleteI have never thought of mums being something to keep around. We have one house mum and two outside to greet the fall. Inside is yellow and the outside ones area light purple leaning toward pink.
ReplyDeleteI've kept lots of plants over winters, but this year have different exposure on my windows, so we shall see. I'm glad I like the scent of mums.
DeleteI love those wee pottery lamps and the Aspen Tree People!
ReplyDeleteVery tempting to bring home one or both!
DeleteThat photo makes a great header picture.
ReplyDeleteIs the pot you have your mums in one that you made? I just love it. And the mist coming up photos are terrific.
Yes, that's my big cauldron. I've another smaller rainbow one that's packed still. Pottery is so neat in that you can put it outside and it's not damaged (unless you let water sit in it and freeze, thus cracking it...I learned the hard way!)
DeleteThe consensus in our house is that your first photo is a kettle of turkey vultures enjoying those thermals. They are starting to move south now. Marcia in the Desert
ReplyDeleteHello Barb,
ReplyDeleteGreat capture of the crows. I do love the views out your window. The trees are starting to look colorful.
Nice collection of pottery! I like your plants too. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great day and a happy weekend! PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
